Best Western Berkeley Springs Inn

The desk clerks were kind, and breakfast was excellent. They even made it a few minutes before 7 a.m. There’s also a delicious restaurant in the parking lot. Our room was otherwise comfortable and clean, with a nice bathroom, though the toilet was very low. We were in room 124, and the people above us, maybe 225, kept us up walking, stomping, and rolling around from 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., then again at 3. They finally stopped just when we had to get up at 6. The older wood floors squeaked, as did the queen bed, so we only used one. If you stay, I’d choose the highest floor and be mindful of the people below you for a quieter night. This was our last stop on the way from Delaware to home in Kentucky. The town was beautiful, and its Apple Butter Festival was the next day.

The room is clean and the desk staff are pleasant, but I can hear everything from the neighboring rooms. I called the front desk about the noise, and either they didn’t do anything or the neighbors weren’t deterred. It’s midnight as I write this. Not great, and I probably wouldn’t stay again.

For a budget class Best Western Plus, this was five stars all the way. We came here after a terrible stay at a resort down the road, and this room was much better. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The shower head felt like the gentle rain showers you get in higher-end hotels. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and made us feel at home. Great value for the money.

The location has a lot going for it: a mountain view, birdsong, beautiful trees, a heated outdoor pool, free continental breakfast, and a restaurant nearby. But the room had very poor soundproofing. At night we kept hearing vibration from a nearby room’s exhaust fan, a TV left on, a barking dog, and more. The toilet tank had plumbing trouble, though it didn’t come back after a temporary fix. Room service only came twice during our week. Good luck if you decide to stay.
