I don't understand the five-star reviews. Maybe those guests had a better room, but this is a questionable neighborhood and the property looks like it charges by the hour instead of by the night. My bill was over $120. The lobby smell hits you as soon as you walk in, and my supposedly non-smoking room reeked of cigarettes. The bathroom looked like it was from the 1970s, in the worst way. The carpet was old, dirty, and stained, nothing like the bright, fresh photos. I checked under the sheets for bugs and found small blood stains. There wasn't even soap by the sink. The owner wouldn't move us to another room, and I wasn't sure another one would be any better, so I said I wouldn't stay. I was there for less than a minute and still haven't received a refund. Maybe it's for smokers who don't care where they sleep.

We had a pleasant three-night stay. The owner was gracious, and our room and bed were great. The shower was hot with strong water pressure. It's a clean, quiet, welcoming, inexpensive motel in a small town. Breakfast was just juice, coffee, mini muffins, and bananas and oranges. It was limited, but there's a very nice family restaurant right next door with great breakfast choices. We could've paid $60 more to stay in Ripon and maybe gotten a better breakfast, but we'd rather spend $15 at the family-owned restaurant. If you're after a big-city hotel experience, go to Milwaukee. I'd recommend this place.

The owners weren't willing to share the footage to help figure out what happened to our missing fishing gear. We also chose Wyndham in large part for the included continental breakfast, but what we got was disappointing. Both mornings there were dry mini chocolate chip muffins, bananas and apples that were too warm, and orange and apple juice. On a cold January stay in Wisconsin, that wasn't what we expected. Even hot chocolate would have been a nice addition.

It's okay for a night on the road, but I wouldn't plan a vacation or a family visit around this hotel. The owners are the only two housekeepers. They allow dogs, but I got judgmental looks when I took mine out to potty or when one barked once after seeing someone unfamiliar. I even took clean towels and changed the sheets myself to avoid issues with my cautious, non-aggressive dogs. Still, I'd go five or six hours without clean items, and when I went looking for the owners, they were nowhere to be found.

We stayed over Christmas to visit family, and the nightly rate was great. The room was clean, stocked, and everything worked. The view wasn't much, but that's not something the hotel can control. The restaurant was closed during a management change, though the Mexican restaurant in town was wonderful. Izzy's is a popular place that delivers if you need food. The lobby was pleasant, and it's a very nice town. At checkout, the parking lot was icy. The front desk didn't address it right away, but eventually did, and there was de-icer salt by the entrance. They should try to keep up with the ice for safety. I'd stay here again.
