Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Philadelphia Valley Forge/Great Valley

The rooms were fine, though the TVs only worked halfway, and breakfast still hadn't been put out at 7:15 even though it was meant to start at 7. We stayed two nights, and when I asked about checkout the next day, another employee said I should have been told at check-in. I hadn't been. We travel often for hockey and usually get pleasant hosts and good accommodations at Marriott, but this stay was the exception. Ashley at reception was rude to me and the person ahead of me, and seemed like she didn't want to be there. My husband had booked with our Marriot card, which has my name on it. I've never had trouble checking in that way before, but Ashley said I needed to call him. I did. She took the phone out of my hand and rudely asked him, "who is this lady in front of me". He gave my name and joked, trying to get a laugh, "unless you mean the little lady- her name is ___". Ashley replied, "Well obviously i didn't mean that one. Next time put her name on the reservation" and hung up on me. Overall, it was an okay stay, but I expect more hospitality than we got.

The hotel is new, lovely, and in a great spot, and the staff were really friendly. Marie, the manager, offered me a free night after I told her there was blood on the comforter. I arrived late and had just taken it off the bed. I emailed her afterward and never heard back. Check the bedding before you go to sleep.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, which earns this place more stars from me. The location is good and check-in was okay. Most of the rooms they assigned me had broken doors, and it seemed like little maintenance was being done. They don't leave water in the room unless you ask, and the breakfast choices are limited.

The room felt welcoming and freshly updated, and the bed was amazingly comfortable. It got nice and dark for sleeping, too. The air conditioner fan made a steady, pleasant sound that didn't get in the way of a great night's sleep.
