American Inn Of Bethesda

The room didn’t match the pictures. We arrived at night to a lobby that smelled like weed and were told to park on the street overnight. The bathroom had pubic hair everywhere, the room wasn’t clean, and the beds were badly made. One bed had no blanket, so I used the top sheet since I sleep hot anyway. It was loud past midnight. I wouldn’t recommend staying here and won’t be back.

The hotel was very clean and the staff were kind. There was a problem with my credit card, but the clerk pointed me to the nearest ATM, so I was able to keep my reservation. Wish we could’ve stayed longer. I’ll definitely come back.

The location is the only good thing about this place. Parking is limited and inconvenient, and they charge $20 a night. It may be easier to use the public street parking on the back side. My AC worked erratically, the elevator only went to the fourth floor, and I had to carry my bags up the stairs for the rest. I felt very unsafe. There were tiny bugs flying around the room, and the carpets in the rooms and corridors were filthy. The place smelled strongly of weed and cigarettes, and the rooms had an extremely strong, dirty, mold-like odor. The front desk was hardly helpful, except for DC. I’d avoid it completely.

The extra parking charge, small spaces, and constant weed smell were bad enough, but the rooms were also outdated and filthy. There was loud music and construction noise all night. This was a horrible stay, nowhere near a 3-star hotel, 1 star at best.
