SIRTAJ - Beverly Hills

The hotel told me to arrive at 2, so I showed up at 1:45. I waited 45 minutes, but the only person running the place had gone to lunch and nobody else was there. What a joke. I booked through Reservations.com four days ahead after someone recommended the place. Once I read the reviews, I called an hour later to cancel. They’d said I could cancel in the next few days, but then told me they wouldn’t cancel and I’d lose $1,200. I’d also called the hotel before coming, and that’s when they said to arrive at 2. Don’t waste your money here. You can go to the Marriott Beverly Hills for less. This place felt like a hellhole with horrible management, more like a hostel. I wish I’d read the reviews before booking.

The location is absolutely perfect, which makes our four-night stay all the more disappointing. We had no hot water in the shower the entire time. On the first day I told an employee, who said nothing could be done and that “the water just isn’t warm enough for you,” even though the sink water was perfectly hot. They offered to move us, but said they weren’t sure whether the other rooms had hot water either. They also said the manager would be told, but nobody followed up. When another employee asked how things went at checkout, I raised it again. She was kind and gave us the manager’s email, but the response was just that nothing could be done and they hoped we’d come back. For a four-star hotel without breakfast, I’d at least expect a coffee machine in the room, instead of having to pay $6 for hot chocolate. Overall, a very disappointing stay.

The location was the only saving grace. The hotel and rooms are old, run down, and tiny. There weren’t even luggage racks in my room or any available at the hotel. The walls were paper thin, and several times I complained about loud guests talking outside my room late at night and people screaming in the rooms next door. I don’t know who this hotel caters to, but it felt like a motel with questionable characters. I’d never stay here again. I was here for two nights only because my employer chose it and covered the cost. Parking was $40 a day in a garage across the street, where the attendants were nasty and rude. One hotel employee told me she argues with them all the time. I’m extremely surprised this place exists in Beverly Hills.

The location was superb, convenient for pretty much everything walkable in Beverly Hills. Check-in was okay, though when I asked to split the bill across two cards, they looked at me like I had three heads. I gave up and put it all on one. Parking was a whole ordeal before I finally got a key card. The garage across the street charges a $30 flat rate per day, but the hotel charged me $40 per day. The hallways smelled overwhelmingly of whatever deodorizer they used, and it was suffocating. There was no coffee or microwave in the room, and the fridge barely worked. The desk quickly offered to make me a cup of coffee for $6. No thanks. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.
