Sleepy Forest gave me a remarkably friendly, professional experience. Management checked in at every step to make sure I was enjoying my stay, and they made me feel appreciated. The room was extremely clean and the location was super good. After staying in many Big Bear places over the years, this one deserves 5 gold stars. Thank you!

The room was already hotter inside than the 90-degree weather, and there was no a/c. I stayed about an hour, even though I’d booked two nights, because my health issues mean I can’t spend long in the heat. The listing hadn’t mentioned the lack of a/c, and now I can’t get my money back for either night. I’m insanely upset.

They showed no empathy or consideration, just greed. I sent over a whole bunch of medical items to get credited, but they never gave me the credit and kept asking for more things. They jerk you around. Don’t deal with these people.

The place was extremely clean, but the price was exorbitant for what we got. These “cottages” are really one building split in two, with two rooms downstairs and two upstairs. There’s no closet or dresser, just a coat rack, so while we were there for a wedding, his suit and my long dress had to hang there and everything else stayed in our suitcases. There’s nowhere to sit except the bed and two backless stools by a tiny dining table. The bedside lights are only night lights, so you have to use the bright recessed ceiling lights to see. I asked for a lamp, but the one they brought flickered on and off the whole time. Getting to the entrance was the worst part, especially at night. The ground is very uneven, with a step up followed immediately by a step down, and there are no handrails. The motion flood light doesn’t stay on long. We were traveling with an elderly couple, and I was terrified one of them would fall.

I liked how the kitchen was set up. Everything you need is out in plain sight, so there’s no digging through drawers and cabinets. The place also feels cozy and unique. And if you like a hot room, the heater works great.
