The place itself was good and the value was great, but booking it came with a real risk. We were told through the booking platform, just 20 minutes before arriving, that someone else had our room. We later learned it had been double booked. Other comments suggest this isn't unusual, and the manager seems to list across several platforms without checking for overlapping reservations. We'd booked a month ahead, so the way he handled it made things worse. He barely acknowledged the mistake or apologized, and acted like it was a routine day. When we turned down another property of his because it wasn't as good as the one we'd reserved, he treated us as if we were causing trouble. He also tried to pin the problem on his parents, who look after the place, and put off speaking with us directly. They couldn't fix the booking themselves since he handled the online reservations, and they didn't speak English. We spent an hour trying to sort it out without getting anywhere until the manager finally dealt with us. It felt like he was hoping we'd give up. There were other absurd parts to the interaction too. Things happen, but I don't know if the good price is worth risking a double booking, especially in a busy season when other places may already be full.

The yard was such a relaxing spot, and there was coffee and tea available all day. The room was cozy and clean, and we enjoyed meeting the friendly guests. It's a beautiful wooden mountain house in a great location, with a warm, welcoming feel. A perfect rustic getaway.

We ended up finding another place, Frontier Lodge, and its brand-new cottages were absolutely amazing. I gave them five stars and wish I could give more. At our original place, the only person there when we arrived was a maid, an Asian lady who didn't speak English, so we had to use a translator on the phone. After about 45 minutes she showed us an available cottage. The tub had soap scum all around it and was full of hair, the air conditioning didn't work, and there was dust everywhere. My wife, who ran a cleaning business for 22 years, called it disgusting and wouldn't stay. She wanted to go home, but we found Frontier Lodge instead. Stay away from Eagles Nest.

We had to scramble to find somewhere else nearby after they double booked us. They didn't tell us until the night before check-in. When we contacted the owner or manager to explain how frustrated and disappointed we were, all he said was, “Bad things happen in life.” Extremely unprofessional.

We stayed in room 2, I believe, and were visited all night long. If you enjoy the paranormal, this place is definitely haunted and could be for you, though it's not for the faint of heart. It's a quaint, rustic bed and breakfast built in 1925, so don't come expecting The Ritz Carlton. The hosts are amazing. I've stayed with them at a few different properties. Thanks, Kim! We'll be back soon.
