Lakewood Cabins

Jenny helped me sort out a same-day stay over the phone after I discovered the hotel I’d booked was closed, though nobody had told me. She found me a deal and unlocked the cabin remotely. The cabins are beautiful and carefully cleaned, with a kitchen stocked well enough for cooking. It’s a lovely mix of authentic and modern cabin style. Credit to the owner for making such a beautiful place for travelers.

Cabin 9 was a comfy, cute retreat for two, with personal, homey decor and everything we needed. Jennie was helpful and quick to respond, and the on-site manager Dave greeted us warmly when we arrived. He even built a bonfire outside that night, which made the place feel even more welcoming. We had a relaxing trip and were very happy with our cozy stay at the Lakewood Cabins. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a Big Bear getaway.

After the great stay we had a year ago, my wife and I came back to Lakewood Cabins and were pleasantly surprised by the recent upgrades. The nine cabins each have their own character, and now include newly installed hot water, AC, and a coffee or espresso machine. It’s a hidden gem for the price, with the Village and lake about a five-minute walk away. David, the on-site general manager, is resourceful and fun to talk to, and we appreciated his tips on local attractions. If you’re here to ski or just unwind and want a good night’s sleep, this is a good spot. I’ll be back when ski season starts.

The bed was comfortable, the place felt cozy, and everyone was friendly. We could walk to the main areas of Big Bear, and despite a few problems, we had a nice weekend and would stay again. In our cabin the living room ceiling light didn’t work, and the DVD player had to be replaced by the manager with one from an unoccupied cabin. There were ants in the bathroom and some in the kitchen, and the towel holders and other fixtures were coming off the walls.
