Rodeway Inn & Suites Fireside Lodge

I've been staying here every time I visit Big Bear, going back to the previous ownership. The convenient location, nice staff, spacious rooms, and clean-feeling beds keep bringing me back. I always book a suite. The fireplaces are a lovely touch, and I love the 90s decor, especially the bears painted on the doors. I really hope they never remodel. This place has the charm and kitsch we love in Big Bear.

Pratham and Sunny were welcoming, easygoing, and quick to help with anything we needed. Their hospitality made it feel like someone actually cared for us, more than a typical hotel stay, and kept everything comfortable and stress-free. Fireside Lodge has warm, rustic rooms with a classic Big Bear cabin feel that doesn't seem outdated. It's conveniently close to everything while still being quiet and relaxing. It felt like a hidden gem, and I'd definitely return.

The hotel staff really came through for us. Our car got stuck in the snow at the exit while my husband and I were heading out to find food. The plow guy wanted $100 to pull us out, even though he gets paid to clear the driveway. The staff teamed up and helped push the car free, so we didn’t have to pay him. Shout-out to fire side lodge. We’ll recommend it and come back. Thanks, guys.

The location was the only reason I gave this place two stars. It’s an easy walk to the lake, city center, shops, and plenty of restaurants. The front desk staff were friendly, though the reception area was messy and smelled unpleasant. I should’ve listened to the reviews about dirty rooms. The sheets were clean, thankfully, but the rest of the room was grimy. The carpet had awful black stains, so I kept my shoes on. Brown marks covered the walls and floorboards, and the tub was so gross I couldn’t bring myself to shower. At least I saw no sign of rodents or roaches. I wouldn’t stay here again. The owners need to maintain the place, replace the carpet and stained tub, and clean the floorboards and repaint the walls.
