Sierra Blue Hotel & Swim Club

The room had a nice mountain view, and I liked the decor, microwave, and mini fridge. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and the complimentary check-in cookies were a treat. It was convenient to everything, including the Bowling Barn, which we walked to. We booked directly for one night on a last-minute trip during a snowy week, but didn’t get back in time for the pool, which closed at 10pm. There were some real problems. The shower barely got lukewarm, even though the sink water was warmer, which was especially unpleasant in winter. The shower floor was slippery enough that my boyfriend almost fell, and the bathroom itself was slick, so I put towels down. A rubber mat would help. The hand towel already had a black stain, and it seemed like cleaning staff could at least have turned it around. One window latch didn’t lock on our ground-floor room, so check that your windows secure properly. The walls are thin too, and we could hear people walking and sometimes running in the hall, including kids, so bring earplugs. My phone connected to WiFi, but my older iPad wouldn’t, although I’ve used it in hotels all over without trouble. Text replies were slower than I wanted, so keep that in mind if an issue is urgent. In winter snow, you have to shovel your own car out, though shovels are available. Parking cost $16.95. I only found out from the receipt after an extra charge, since the initial booking email didn’t say anything and the front staff didn’t mention it. They should be upfront about the fee.

The room was super clean, and the staff were amazing and quick even though I booked at the last minute. A decorative pillow was on the floor, which I liked, and after a few drinks I forgot it was there and tripped. That one was on me. The best welcome came from the “owners,” who greeted me with open paws and let me rub their bellies. Blue was such a ham, I wanted to take him home! I didn’t catch the on-site manager’s name because I was so busy with the cats. Management was wonderful, and talking with them, along with spending time with the cats, helped me forget my worries. I left smiling. Give them a try!

I had an emergency and needed a different hotel overnight, even though I come to big big all the time. I’m so glad we ended up here. We called and they helped right away, even giving us %15 off. The customer service was amazing, the cleanliness was insane, and the pool was lovely and open until 10pm. Everyone was so sweet and welcoming. I really enjoyed the stay and recommend this hotel if you need somewhere to stay.

The bed was sooo comfortable, and I loved how cute the room was. The shower pressure was good too. The jacuzzi was out of order, and the lotion bottle in my room had more soap in it instead. Still, I loved the cat and enjoyed my stay.
