We stayed in winter for the snow, so I can’t say anything about the pool. We had a studio for my kid and their friends, plus a chalet for me. The studio was useful for them to watch TV and cook a meal, then they could go back to the chalet and hang out without dad. I connected the TV through my phone’s mobile hotspot, and streaming worked fine. The place is decently located, with entrances at both the front and back that made getting in and out easier. Finding our rooms took a bit of effort after dark, but I’d stay here again.

We paid over $400 for one cabin for one day this past weekend, and so many things didn’t work. The shower barely worked and there was no hot water, even after I left the hot knob turned for almost an hour. The WiFi was out too, and the place looked nothing like the website photos. It was tiny and looked like a poverty shack from outside. My guests and I would give negative stars if we could. Total scam and rip-off, one of the worst lodges in Big Bear and possibly the world. Do NOT book this place under any circumstances.

Quick, easy check-in and fast replies. The proprietor was very helpful and accommodating, and I’d definitely stay here again. Excellent.

The pool was drained, and the building felt empty, abandoned, and unsafe. My colleague and I had reserved a double occupancy room for an event in Big Bear. When we arrived there were no other guests or cars, and all the curtains were open in the empty rooms. One other couple came later to stay in the otherwise empty building. The stair bannisters were so shaky I didn’t want to lean on them. Our room’s front sliding window had a broken lock, the bathroom window was cracked, and one spot in front of the shower sank under my weight when I stepped on the tile. The toilet rocked because it wasn’t securely bolted down, and plaster was breaking away from the floorboards. NO Bear Lodge, also called Snow Bear Lodge, looked like a hotel closed for renovations that was still covertly operating in a building that wasn’t up to code.

The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and I stayed warm overnight in July. Getting into the room was another matter. On arrival, the young woman cleaning the pool had to contact the owner because I hadn’t been given the four-digit entry code. I didn’t see anyone else for the rest of my stay. Contactless check-in and checkout are fine, but guests still need to receive the information they need.
