Lajitas Golf Resort & Spa

The setting is a huge part of what makes Lajitas Golf Resort and Spa special. The Big Bend desert, rugged mountains, and views along the Rio Grande had us stopping to take it all in, and the remote location made the trip feel like a true escape. We played Black Jack’s Crossing, designed by Lanny Wadkins, and it was a real highlight. The course was in pristine shape, with fast greens, lush fairways, and a challenging but fair layout. The elevation changes and Rio Grande holes made for some of the most memorable golf I’ve played. Our Boardwalk Condo felt like a spacious home, with multiple bedrooms and full bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, fireplaces in the living areas, and outdoor seating. It was clean, comfortable, and decorated with Southwestern touches. We also really enjoyed the food at The Candelilla Café. The dishes were creative and beautifully presented, and the service was attentive and professional. It felt polished without being too formal. Staff across the resort were warm and knowledgeable, and everything from dining to golf went smoothly. We left eager to come back. For a secluded stay with high-end accommodation, great golf, and that remarkable desert scenery, Lajitas exceeded our expectations.

The bakery became our daily stop for quick bites, and the food there and elsewhere was awesome. We also loved the golf course, which was immaculate, with unforgettable views along the Rio Grande. Our room was quiet and nice, set against that stunning desert scenery, and the staff made the whole stay feel easy. A one-of-a-kind West Texas getaway.

The people at Lajitas made the stay feel personal from start to finish. Everyone we met was quick with a friendly hello and checked that we had what we needed. Martina deserves a special thanks for the great drinks and service, and John and Matt, we appreciated the hospitality and attention you gave us. It shows in the guest experience. We split our time between the Cavalry Post and the Cottage, which gave us a more secluded stretch of the trip. Both places were immaculate, and moving between them was handled smoothly. The meals and drinks were consistently good, and the green salsa is a sleeper worth trying. Black Jack’s Crossing was one of the most beautiful courses I’ve played. It was in pristine condition, and the layout was challenging but rewarding. From the tee box, the mountain views and Rio Grande in the distance were incredible. Getting to Lajitas via JSX was also easy and very well handled. It’s a remarkable West Texas destination, with rugged desert surroundings and service that made us feel like the only guests there.

The staff were amazing, and the surroundings were stunning. We found several wasps in our room when we arrived, but the front desk promptly moved us to an upgraded room. We were grateful for how quickly they handled it. 10/10, I’d recommend Lajitas Golf Resort to anyone in the Big Bend area.
