Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Big Rapids, MI

The kids were big fans of the lobby cookies, and breakfast was quick and easy before heading to the rink. The breakfast room is a bit small but stayed clean and stocked. We were here over the weekend with our youth hockey team on a group rate. The room showed some wear, though it was still nice. I liked the vinyl floors instead of carpet, and the temperature control and TV both worked great. We also used the pool and fitness center. The fitness room isn't big, but it has what you need for a workout while traveling. Staff were friendly all stay long, from quick check-in to asking the kids how their games went and wishing them luck. I also had a nice, personal chat with one of the desk staff. There were a few small snags, but people stepped in quickly to sort them out. Erica in group sales was especially helpful and easy to work with. I'd stay again.

I was here for a week of work, and I'm due back next week. I'll be here for the next few months too, so this is where I'll keep staying. Everyone was friendly and ready to help, the management and workers included. The place was clean, welcoming, and accommodating, with a nice atmosphere. Breakfast was great and the coffee was amazing. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it.

I left feeling awful after reading the general manager's email accusing me of rude, unacceptable behavior. I was polite and professional with everyone, and the email was full of lies. I wanted a phone call as requested, but nobody called. The staff seemed nice face to face, then just wanted us gone without resolving anything. Ciara Corwin, as general manager, acted as if nothing could be done. I attached her email and pictures of the roach in room 321 and what looked like roach droppings coming from an electrical outlet in 308. We couldn't get a picture of that room's roach, but watched them crawl out of the whole. Don't stay here unless you want to risk bringing pests home. They didn't even comp a full night, just part of one. Room 321 had cockroaches. I photographed one as it ran into a door jam and told the front desk. The woman there was kind, but said this was an ongoing issue and exterminators had already been twice. I asked for a refund, which she couldn't authorize, and she tried to move my family. Two hours later, she said she'd upgrade us, but couldn't make that happen either. We moved all our things 13 rooms away to 308, only to find roaches there too. We kept our stuff in the bathtub because chat gbt says it's the best place for it. On Sunday I told another staff member both rooms had bugs and I hadn't heard from a manager. She took my number, but no one called. At checkout, she said they would comp one night, but wouldn't put that in writing, and said the manager would deal with it Monday. I said my family shouldn't be charged after being knowingly put in two rooms with roaches. Monday brought no call, only that email. This was the worst hotel stay I've had in my 49 years. I wish I had gotten angry, but that's not who I am.

Good service, a decent price, and I was able to check in a little early. The room was clean, though a bit outdated, and the full breakfast had good eggs and juice. The third floor smelled like pickle juice and vinegar.
