Hampton Inn Big Rapids

The room and service were both really nice and respectful, but I'm giving it two stars, and honestly wanted to give one. There's no hot tub, and the pool was so loud you could barely hear anything. We booked it for an 8-year-old girl's birthday party, and the little girls were the quietest ones there.

The kids loved the pool and breakfast, which were the reasons we picked this hotel. Our room was small, but very tidy and clean. We also had a nice walk to a nearby Culver's for dinner.

I stayed one night because a power outage left me needing a room, but my debit card was charged for two. I was shocked to see the second night billed. The hotel says I booked a second night, even though they confirmed I checked out after the first. Why would I leave if I meant to stay two nights? The supposed second booking was for a different type of room at a much higher rate. They couldn't say which room I allegedly used, and confirmed the hotel was otherwise full that night, with power company workers from other states staying there en masse. I never discussed a second night with staff. Even with all that, they refuse to return the money they "acquired" from my account. The Customer "Care" phone staff and local manager won't take responsibility for what seems to be an error or system glitch. As a Hilton Honors member, I feel anything but "honored." #HiltonDishonors

I'd stay again. The room was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom, and the bed was comfortable. Everyone on staff was super friendly. I did have one strange exchange with housekeeping: I asked for toilet paper and was told no, which I've never run into anywhere else. It was nice having coffee available in the lobby all the time, and breakfast was good.
