Timbers Motel

I asked for a room with a Mountain View and got a view of the staircase instead. The room had just been refurbished and was clean, but the smell from the high VOC paint was so bad that we couldn’t stay in it. At the front desk, the clerk’s first response was that plenty of guests had stayed there without complaint and that I couldn’t get my money back. She also said a refund wasn’t allowed because I booked on Expedia. The hotel grounds were one star. If the room hadn’t smelled toxic, it would have been good enough for an overnight stay. That’s all I have to say.

The bed was comfortable, the room was very quiet, and the pool was pristine. Staff couldn’t have been friendlier, and the location is great. Timbers is a Bigfork classic, and we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are clean, but they’re showing their age and feel worn. Ours smelled musty when we came in, so we kept the window cracked most of the time. We hope the rooms get updated before our next visit. We’d love to return.

The woman at reception was the only good part of the stay. You could get the same room at a $50 hotel. The heater doesn’t work right, it’s all or nothing. They’re really rude if you smoke outside, but there’s no smoking area. Save your money.

The room was very clean, and for an older motel they’re keeping it up nicely. There was no carpet in our room, which helped with cleanliness. I did notice a small gap under the door, so I’d be surprised if snow doesn’t get into the room in winter. The young woman who checked us in was sweet, knew the area, and gave us an excellent supper recommendation. I’d gladly stay again next time I’m in the area.
