I won’t come back. At check-in they seemed not to have my reservation and asked me for all the details. We needed a freezer for medicine, and they told us the rooms had one. The room we got only had a mini fridge, though, and then they said none of the rooms had freezers. It felt like they’d lied to get the booking. They also wanted a $20 cash deposit for the key but gave me just one key card, so I had to ask for a second since there were two of us. The cards had our room number on them. I said I’d remove the stickers because that put our safety and security at risk. Breakfast hours on the website were listed as 6 to 9:30, but the lobby sign had been changed to 9:00. I nearly missed it. There was a waffle iron but no batter, and a toaster but no bread, bagels, or muffins. I don’t know what they normally offered because nothing was there. As I was the last person there, an employee, possibly the owner, kept asking what room I was in while cleaning. I didn’t tell her. I asked if there was a problem with me being there, and she said no, so I don’t know why she insisted on my room number. Someone’s car, maybe an employee’s, was parked on the curb at the lobby entrance. It might have been in a fire lane, and we had to drive around it to leave the lot. The ice machine was filthy, with mildew on the outside, a missing grate for the bucket, and green algae inside. I didn’t use its ice and had to buy bags at stores during my stay. Avoid this place and find another room.

The $20 deposit turned into a whole mess at checkout. The clerk the night before had been kind, joked with me about my job, and insisted he could take my credit card when I realized I didn’t have cash. At 10:30 the next morning, a woman was at the desk. When I mentioned the credit deposit, she got heated and kept saying there was no deposit, pointing to her receipt. She tossed me a long stack of receipts to check. I was already late for work and panicking, but tried to be patient while she raised her voice and insisted I hadn’t paid. She called the man who’d taken my card, and while I was on the phone with him, he denied the whole thing, saying it had to be cash. I felt like I was losing my mind. The woman kept demanding my card, and I eventually gave it to her because I didn’t want the police called or something. A deposit is supposed to be returned, but she tried to take another $20 as I was leaving. I was called a liar and charged twice because of an employee’s mistake, which he flat-out denied. The room situation was bad too. My best friend and her boyfriend paid $80 for a room with no AC, so they immediately needed another one. Both our rooms smelled strongly of mildew. My blankets smelled like somebody’s armpits, there was hair in the sheets, and hair and cigarette burns were everywhere. We thought it would be a nice hotel and didn’t realize it was one of “those” places. Please, book a MOTEL 6 instead. It’s much better.

The bed was good, and the hotel is right across from the beach. Lilly in the office was another bright spot. But the place was very dirty. We stayed three nights for a business meeting and had TV the first night, then none for the next two. Lilly tried to fix it but couldn’t.

The only thing I liked was being able to see the beach from the lobby. As soon as we arrived, the smell of weed hit us, and the lobby smelled of it too. The men working there weren’t friendly. When I tried our key card, which had the room number on it, I found out they’d given away the room we booked. It took 45 minutes to sort out their mistake, by which point my wife had booked another hotel. I tried to dispute the charge, but they told me to take it up with booking. Booking said the facility had reported me checked in for one night, though I hadn’t checked in, and refused to refund me. A horrible experience.

Nothing fancy, but nothing bad either. We got what we paid for, with a great location across from the beach and shopping. There’s also a gas station about a minute down the street. Staff were really nice, and check-in and checkout together took maybe two minutes, the fastest I’ve ever had. Breakfast had make-your-own waffles, muffins, coffee, and juice. I’ll definitely come back.
