Hampton Inn Birch Run/Frankenmuth

Feeling safe mattered most to me since I don't travel alone very often, and I felt comfortable here. The employees I ran into greeted me warmly, and Chelsea at the front desk was especially wonderful from check-in through checkout. The room was clean, comfortable, and very nice, and breakfast was decent. I stayed on my own and had a great visit. I wanted to add four more days, but the price was too much for my budget, so I changed hotels. It wasn't that this place wasn't worth the rate. I found somewhere that saved me over $250, and had to go with that.

Matt, the night desk clerk, really went out of his way to make the stay better and handle any problems. The lobby also has plenty of comfortable places to sit. I've stayed here several times before, and this visit was for a nearby reptile show. Breakfast on Sunday was biscuits and gravy, which I hadn't realized, and it was the best included breakfast I've had despite traveling for work and trying plenty of them. I'll stay here again when I'm in the area.

The pool being closed was a big letdown for our kids, and we weren't told about it when checking in. By then, switching hotels was too late. We were told our points couldn't be returned if we canceled, and that they couldn't move us to another hotel in the corporation either. In our room and in the main hallway by the elevator, there were stained carpets. The breakfast nook was cramped, so people couldn't easily get past each other while choosing food. The two queen beds also made a lot of noise whenever someone rolled over.

Most of the staff were pleasant and helpful, especially the room service team, and breakfast was great. But one front desk employee made the stay awful. Before checkout time, she kept calling our room and making threats. When we went downstairs to leave, she was calling the police and mocking us. We were also charged a $50 “bullying fee,” whatever that was supposed to be.
