It’s in a convenient spot near UAB and could work well for a stay of several days. Some staff were exceptionally friendly, and breakfast was great. The women working there kept the area neat and clean, and the food was good. Be sure to clarify whether you’ll be charged for parking. I only found out a few days later, when a charge appeared, that it was for parking at the hotel. Parking isn’t great if you get back late, since you may have to walk from your car through a dark area. You’ll need to clean the room before settling in. I mean more than the usual wipe-down and disinfecting: the floors hadn’t been mopped, the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed, and there was hair on and in the shower. The sheets were clean, but very wrinkled.

The front desk staff were excellent. The ladies were so sweet, and checking in was easy. But the hotel wasn’t very clean. I could smell the room as soon as I walked in, and there was hair in the tub. The bathroom and floors weren’t clean either.

For what you pay, this is good value in a great Birmingham location. It isn’t luxurious, but it’s comfortable, quiet and safe, and I’d stay again when I’m in town for work. The room was clean apart from a dusty ledge beneath the bathroom sink. Parking is tight and limited, and the fitness center is very outdated with little to choose from.

We found a cute little kitchen in our room, but $25 a night for parking felt like a lot. The shower drain was packed with hair, and I had to pull it out before I could shower. The woman at the front desk overcharged my card by $250 and wouldn’t acknowledge it until I went back to the desk with another employee to get it fixed.

I paid for a room, but I’m staying somewhere else and will probably just lose the $200-plus prepaid reservation. I’d rather be hospitalized and deal with insurance than deal with this hotel and its staff again. If you do business here, be ready for what could be the worst experience of your life.
