Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Bishop by IHG

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. In the first room, wallpaper was peeling and there was mold all over. I asked to switch, then got a room by the back exit where the door slammed around the clock. Between the mold allergies and the traffic noise, I got no sleep. They also charged an extra $25 a night for my dog, which I didn't know about until I arrived. No refund and no apology for the mold in either room. Just a bad experience all around.

My room was near the stairs, and when people ran or jumped on them I could feel the bed shake. Sound carried badly throughout the hotel. There was also a gap under the door, and smoke from the corridor, maybe cigarettes or popcorn, came in strongly enough to wake me sometimes. The hotel says it has a no-smoking policy, but staff couldn't find the guests who were smoking. The fire alarm never went off either. The mattress sloped a little toward the middle, felt damp, and was very hard. I've never had a worse IHG stay, and this is easily one of the lowest-end Holiday Inns. I can't imagine other IHG hotels using such a low-quality mattress.

Dear Holiday Inn Management, I had a reservation for today, October 3, 2025, confirmation number 454211915985, after booking and paying on September 9. Around 2 p.m., the front desk called to say I had to be moved to another hotel. The staff member was rude and arrogant, offered no apology or reasonable explanation, and hung up on me. This last-minute change, handled so unprofessionally, left me feeling disrespected and disrupted my travel plans and mood. I believe the cancellation may have been racial discrimination because my reservation showed a Chinese name. Tonight I can't find a suitable place to stay in this city. Almost all the hotels are full, and I may have to sleep on the street. As a longtime Holiday Inn customer who has trusted the brand, I'm shocked and deeply disappointed. Hotel service should give guests a reliable, comfortable, respectful experience, and today's treatment fell far short. Please provide a formal explanation and say how you'll compensate me for the time and inconvenience. I also hope you improve staff service training so this doesn't happen to someone else. The stay was acceptable in some ways, but the problems were hard to overlook. The hot water came out scalding, and I ended up with a blister. That felt unsafe. The room seemed fine at first, but wasn't actually clean. The bed was hard as a board, and the pillows went flat. Staff were doing laundry in the breakfast area while guests were eating, which was unprofessional. At over $200 a night, I expected better professionalism and cleanliness. These issues are why I gave it three stars.
