Nicki Lee Mansion

Nicki sent us off with homemade brownies for our ski day, which says a lot about how thoughtful she is. She spent time getting to know us and made us feel welcome in her home even though we were only there one night. It’s clear she’s put so much care into the place, and leaving was hard. The house was spotless, and I slept like a baby. It’s a very old home, restored beautifully while keeping its period charm. Nicki is a hardworking woman with a huge heart, and I can’t wait to come back. The experience was fantastic and amazingly affordable. I won’t stay at those crusty casino hotels again.

Nicki’s breakfast was delicious, and her carrot cake was absolutely superb. Her mansion is full of detail, the kind of place where you could spend a whole day in each room and still have more to notice. Nicki has put her heart and soul into the house, and she’s such a welcoming hostess. A hotel room usually looks like every other one, and I don’t leave a vacation with much of a memory of it. Staying here was different. I left with memories of both the trip and Nicki’s home. It’s a really interesting, welcoming experience.

Charlie's bar is down the street, and it was the only bar we managed to find, though it was a great spot. Black Hawk is just a stone’s throw away, and the surrounding town is very much a gambling town. It’s hard to find a bar or restaurant without a slot machine somewhere, though they do exist. The mansion is a lovely place to get away for a weekend, just a quick drive from Denver. Nicki has been restoring it to its former glory over the past few years and keeps adding to it. The feel is homey, and Nicki herself is a great host.

The house is gorgeous, and Nicki has clearly put a lot of hard work into it. She’s adorable, accommodating, and makes a wonderful breakfast. By the time you leave, it feels like you’ve known her forever. When you’re in the area, you’ll want to stay here again. 🥰 7-19-2019
