The beach was wonderful, and my daughter and I had a quiet, relaxing getaway for her birthday. The staff left her a gift and note, which made it extra special. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom had a nice update. The gym was expansive, with a walking lane around and through the middle. The pool was heated but still a bit cold, so warming up in the hot tub first made swimming refreshing. The sauna was lovely, too, though it needs preheating, and you can throw water on the rocks for an authentic experience. We didn’t eat at the resort because I believe the main restaurant was closed for the season. We booked through agoda on a deal, but the hotel somehow charged us twice. I noticed a few days later, and it added stress. Trying to sort it out through agoda was a hassle and didn’t work, but the hotel resolved it quickly as soon as I contacted them.

We used to love coming here for a getaway, but I wouldn’t book a couples massage at this location. We planned our anniversary day around one, and they called the night before to reschedule. We were fine with that and booked again almost two weeks out, then replanned everything, only to get another call the night before asking to reschedule. There wasn’t even an apology for the inconvenience. It was super annoying, and I’m glad we hadn’t booked a room. I emailed them about a week ago and still haven’t heard back. Maybe this review will get someone’s attention.

The food was good and hygienic, and the location was convenient and easy to reach. Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff were polite and cooperative, and service was quick and professional. It was a pleasant stay, and I’d recommend the hotel.

We will never return, and about 30 couples and families who booked rooms to attend won’t either. Our wedding day is forever tainted by this fiasco. We only wanted to exchange vows, an informal ceremony of literally five minutes on the beach in front of family and friends, then hang around the bonfire. We had both been married before. The resort first agreed. We reserved the fire pit and five rooms, made arrangements, told everyone, and family and friends booked flights and rooms. Then an employee said we couldn’t do it unless their event planner handled it for at least $25,000. A manager then said it was allowed, but it was canceled again shortly after. This happened four times. The regional manager got involved, and they kept making promises. The day before check-in, we were told our reserved rooms had been changed and they wouldn’t change them back. On the day, an employee came out to my husband and threatened to remove us if we disrupted anyone or made a mess. We’re middle-aged, respectable adults who have never caused disruptions in our lives. Fortunately, nobody told me before I saw our friends. While we were at the bonfire, two other fire pits were having a “grand time,” drinking and loudly celebrating their 20's. Good for them, though they left a huge mess, which wasn’t great for semiahmoo. The groundskeeper came over, profusely apologized for how we’d been treated, and thanked us for being respectful, considerate, and disposing of our trash. He said he’d been warned to watch for us, as had everyone, including the house cleaners and restaurant wait staff. They all said they were sorry we’d been treated so poorly. Just before we left the next day, a friend mentioned they’d heard wedding gifts had been left at the desk. Nobody from semiahmoo told us. The following day, all our rooms were accidentally charged twice. It took numerous calls and emails to get the money reimbursed. Their inability to manage what was once a beautiful, desirable destination has cost them our return and the roughly 30 couples and families who came for us.
