Super 8 Blaine/Mpls/St. Paul Area

The pool and hot tub area were a nice surprise. The breakfast was adequate, and the rooms were clean and up to date. Everyone on staff was very nice and helpful. I’d been leery about booking a Super 8 since I hadn’t stayed at one in many years, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It’s the best Super 8, and I’ll definitely stay again.

My parents drove over 300 miles to visit me for the holiday weekend, and the stay was a terrible experience. At check-in, they were told the hot tub had been out of order for more than a week. Then they reached the room and found the bed hadn’t even been made, so we had no idea whether it had been cleaned. Because of their arrival time, they stayed one night, then rebooked at a different, better hotel. I don’t recommend this place.

We were impressed by how nice and clean the room was. The pool and hot tub were clean and smelled great. Our only disappointment was the lack of an elevator, which was tough with a baby, two kids, and luggage. Next time we’ll ask for a room on the main floor.

The front desk employee was perfectly pleasant to my mother, who was staying with me, but treated me very differently. It left me thinking she was discriminating against me because of my disability. When I asked for clean sheets because the ones on the bed were dirty, she implied I might steal them. I use a walker, so I couldn’t exactly run off with the sheets. She insisted I strip the bed and carry everything the full length of the hotel because that was the policy. I said I’d ask the housekeeper instead, since she’d been more polite. The woman rushed ahead of me and whispered to the housekeeper as I came over. I’m disabled, not deaf or stupid. The room was overpriced, and the key card lock barely worked. It was pretty obvious management was too cheap to replace it. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. I’ve warned my local friends, and I plan to call corporate about what happened. Save your money and stay somewhere you’ll be treated with respect. Never again.
