Stoneridge Resort

I suggested this place to family because it's near my home. I noticed a moldy smell in the hallway, and my family said there was just one complimentary coffee in the morning. They felt the stay could have been nicer for what they paid.

Sandpoint was an easy place to spend the whole day, with a huge range of shops and restaurants. There are also lots of nearby small towns and plenty of fun consignment and secondhand clothing stores to browse.

It's inexpensive, so it may be worth it if you can sleep on a mattress as hard as a board and don't mind an old, small TV that we couldn't get working. The hot tub was dirty and overcrowded, and the steam room was closed. I won't recommend this place or return. It needs upgrades, though with the owners being elderly, that may not happen for a while.

The rooms were clean, though definitely outdated, and the pool and recreation center are nice. Dogs bark because they allow so many dogs, including ones that aren't service animals. The golf course restaurant is basically fair food, filling but expensive. If you only need a room and don't care about amenities, or have low standards, you'll be fine. I booked twice through a veterans affiliate at a good rate. Before our third planned stay, they canceled our reservation, claiming we'd trashed the room. That's completely false. My wife is the kind of person who buses her own table at a restaurant and cleans up her hotel room. They accused our dog of leaving a pee spot and charged us $175 for cleaning. Our dog is a real service dog and is never away from my wife's side. It didn't leave a spot, but how can you argue with that? They'd actually said there was no problem and the room was in good shape apart from that. We stayed twice, and I find it hard to believe they didn't cancel because a regular guest could pay two or three times what we did with the veterans discount. What makes it worse is that they lied to the veterans outfit we booked through. Three days before we were supposed to leave for the third trip, I called to confirm and ask if we could have the same room. They said they'd try, but couldn't promise because they were overbooked and full. Then they threw me under the bus to fix that. They could have just told us they'd overbooked or said something, but lying like that isn't right. I'm absolutely hurt, especially since we're so careful about cleaning up after ourselves. Despicable. I'll never stay there or recommend it again.
