We loved staying at the Neptune, tucked into such a picturesque setting but still just a short bike ride from town. The rooms are more like cozy apartments, with a kitchen, living room, and large bathroom. We could hang out on the deck or in the yard overlooking the bucolic hills, and it was remarkable seeing small planes land so close by. Alli and I chose The Neptune on Block Island for our honeymoon and first days as newlyweds, and we couldn't have been happier. Grace and Sam were incredibly kind and communicative, and made us feel welcome. Seeing such intense Northern Lights there is something we'll always remember. A new tradition has started, and The Neptune and Block Island will be our spot.

The Neptune House quickly felt like a second home, and we'll absolutely be back. My husband and I stayed in early October for our honeymoon, and we're already planning another trip. It was quiet and cozy, more homey than a luxury beach resort, exactly what we wanted. Our unit felt like walking into our own home, with a charming apartment layout that was cozy without feeling small. Barbeques were just outside the back door, the pool was around the corner, and community spaces were downstairs. Check-in was quick and easy. Grace was kind from the start, and had lovely restaurant suggestions and a menu to browse. The property is directly under the airport's final approach, so we were dazzled by little planes landing throughout the day. In October the airport was active only from about 8am to 5pm, and it never disturbed sleep or quiet hours. We'd run into the yard to watch the little Cessnas land. We only met Sam at checkout, but she was just as kind and welcoming as people say. Before we'd even met, she heard we'd just gotten married, congratulated us, gave us her contact info, and invited us back soon. Thanks to Sam, Grace, and our Airbnb hosts for the perfect stay. See you soon :)

We enjoyed our mid-May stay in a 2BR at Neptune House. It's a friendly, affordable place on BI, with helpful staff and a homey, clean room that had everything we needed to cook and eat in, which was a big help on a budget. The pool opened for the season on our second day. It wasn't warm enough for me to swim, but it was pleasant to sit with our feet in the water. There was plenty of outdoor space for our 3yr old to run around, and the fire pits were nice. A few minor things were annoying: the room fans and bathroom fan needed cleaning, the tub stopper didn't work, and three of the four BBQ grills weren't working properly. One tip for shoulder season visitors: it's hard to tell which restaurants and businesses are open without going in person. It would be nice if they updated their websites or phone messages with hours or opening dates, but that rarely happened.

The peaceful view out back, mostly undeveloped land, was lovely, and the sunset from the Adirondack chairs was wonderful. Neptune House is close enough to walk into town but far enough from the crowds to feel quiet and relaxing. We stayed in a studio in mid-September 2021 and enjoyed it so much we'd like to return next September. The studio was clean and well equipped, with a new kitchen and a gas stove I loved using, just like at home. There's no dishwasher, but that was fine for the two of us. Several gas grills around the complex made it easy to cook outdoors, especially from our ground-floor unit. The loveseat was a nice extra compared with studios that only have a bed, table, and maybe an armchair, though it wasn't comfortable and its armrests needed shampooing. We spent most of our condo time on the small enclosed front porch anyway. The nearby island airport means planes fly overhead starting around 8 AM. It wasn't bad on weekdays, but Friday through Sunday they came steadily. Sam, the manager, was super nice and helpful. Max helped move our luggage in and out, collected the trash mid-week, and seemed to help with everything. He was friendly, upbeat, and always ready with a generous smile. He's a gem. These aren't luxury places, just basic but nice enough for a casual, laid-back vacation. We gave five stars despite a few small room issues because we came home longing to return. We love Block Island, and Neptune House made the stay super pleasant.

The pool was great, and both the unit and its view were amazing. Samantha runs a great resort, and I can't think of a better value on the island. I'm almost reluctant to write this because I'd like to keep Neptune House under the radar. HIGHLY recommend.
