The location worked well for this trip, just an 8 minute walk from The Mall of America. The rooms were well appointed and the service was friendly and good, as I’d normally expect at a Hilton. Breakfast was a letdown, though. Too much bread, pastries, and cereal. They did have egg and sausage patties, but they weren’t appetizing.

I’ve stayed here with my husband and family several times, and it’s usually been a decent hotel at a reasonable price. This time I was on my own for an event and got back around 11:30 pm after checking in and leaving straight away. The toilet wasn’t flushing properly, and the bedside lamp switch was broken. In the morning, I noticed a fresh bug bite. When I checked the bed, the sheets weren’t clean. The small sofa cushions were dirty too. I was very, very disappointed. They now charge for parking in the public lot outside the hotel as well. Do better, Hilton home2 suites Bloomington!

The room temperature was the worst part. The wall unit thermostat didn’t seem to match or work right. I tried everything and had staff come up, but the heat came on when it was below freezing outside, then it was either too hot or too cold. I turned it all off, yet the AC kicked on anyway. I didn’t sleep well, and it sounds like other guests have had similar problems. They offered to move me, but I have chronic health issues and was alone, so changing rooms would’ve been too much to manage. There were other things that made the stay hard. I needed help with the heavy doors and my cart, but there were no handicap buttons to open the building doors. I parked in the handicap section on the west side, closest to the entrance, and that was rough for me without assistance. The carts were difficult to control too. I tried calling the front desk with a question about the thermostat and something else, but the room phone didn’t work. Staff came up and fixed it, saying it wasn’t plugged in and there was another issue with it. I found about four other people’s hairs on the sheets when I pulled back the bedding, and stopped looking because it grossed me out. Housekeeping seemed off, and I arrived late on a holiday when not many people were around at first. I would’ve liked to use a hot tub for my pain, but there wasn’t one, and there were no tubs in the rooms either. I was told late checkout might be possible if I paid, but no manager was there to ask. Since I can’t do an early checkout because of my health, I came in late and had to pay for two nights instead of one, then leave late the next night. I brought my own burner for health reasons and was glad I did, because there wasn’t one in the room. I don’t know if you have to request it, but I thought the kitchen would include one. The room had a nice view to the west, and I hadn’t noticed the pond until daylight. At least it didn’t smell, and it was quiet for the most part. It had a fridge and kitchen, and was okay for a short stay. I wish it cost less. I’m not sure I could’ve stayed much longer with that temperature problem.

The room was clean, but looked worn in several places and wasn’t as well maintained as other Home 2 suites we’ve stayed at. The bathroom’s handicapped accessibility was perfect, and the service was fine. Breakfast was great. The location was easy to find and had plenty of parking.
