Red Roof Inn Bloomington - Normal/ University

The room was gross and didn't seem properly clean. I also saw someone sleeping in a car out back, which felt super creepy. At check-in, I brought two little puppies who were just going to sleep together in a crate. The listing says pets are allowed, plural, and free, but they charged me for the second puppy.

I was between moves to another state and stayed here almost a week while waiting for my place to be ready. The staff were so helpful, and they gave me discounts for the number of nights I stayed. Whenever I needed help with a technical issue or something else, the guy at the front desk came right to my room. It was an amazing stay. I HIGHLY recommend this Red Roof.

The desk clerk warned that the hotel wouldn't be responsible if my car was vandalized overnight, which made it sound like she expected that to happen and didn't care. After nearly $400 for a junky, ratty, unsafe place, that's a pretty terrible way to treat a guest. I needed a vehicle towed back to the Chicago area, had a hard time finding a truck, and waited nine hours before one finally came that day. Thank God I didn't leave my car there overnight. I was staying because my apartment wasn't ready. The room door was badly broken and seemed pointless to lock. When it was cold outside, I had to go to the office a couple of times because I couldn't get into the room, and all I got was an excuse that it was cold. They should keep the doors and locks working so guests don't get locked out when the weather changes. Spend the money on repairs and staff who care.

The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet, but there were several problems. The shower head couldn't be moved, so anyone under 5'5" had to stand at the back of the tub. There was a big clump of hair stuck on the tub wall, and the towels had black stains. The Kleenex holder was empty, and we found holes in both the bathroom wall and the floor.
