Renaissance Minneapolis Bloomington Hotel

The rooms are spacious, modern, and comfortable, and the 24/7 gym is handy even if it's only average in size. The bar and restaurant are nicely done, and the waiter I met was genuinely warm and friendly. Housekeeping, though, made this stay a letdown after my good experience here before. My room wasn't cleaned the first night. By the second night, three days' worth of dirty cups were still there. Reception gave me a card and said room refreshes no longer include taking used items away. That felt odd and not very clean for a hotel of this standard. The housekeeping change had a real effect on my stay, and I hope they reconsider it for returning guests like me.

The bar had a nice selection of drinks and food, and the rooms were clean and updated. I came on a weekend, so it was a little quieter than during the busy weekday business travel period. The heater seemed undersized and shut off before the room got warm. The walls are paper thin too. I could hear kids screaming across the hall and a baby crying all night in the adjoining room, like they were right in my room.

The breakfast buffet was a real surprise, with loads of choices and really good food. Service there was great as well. We had a couple of different rooms on different nights for different reasons, and the king suites were the best: lots of space and a pullout couch for the kids. I'm picky about where I stay, and we had a great experience. Jasmine at reception especially went above and beyond and made our stay exceptional.

The lobby and rooms look nice, but it was cold throughout. The vent kept blowing cold air, and the walls felt freezing. Getting around outside was difficult too: the driveway and parking lot hadn't been plowed, so we had to wade through snow after getting out of the car and walk on slippery ground. Staff didn't acknowledge us, and when we asked about the club lounge, we were just told it was closed, with no explanation or apology. The restaurant was closed as well. We were on the club level and expected to have access to those services. I wouldn't stay again. We visit MN a few times a year and have plenty of other choices.
