We found this place while driving after a chain hotel advertised $133 a night but added about $70 in taxes and fees. Here, the listed rate was fair, with only around $10 extra for taxes, which felt much more reasonable. The hotel has a charming old grand-hotel feel, with chandeliers, antique hallway furniture, and real tablecloths at breakfast. The carpet is a bit worn, but our room and the pool were very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom felt luxurious. Staff were friendly, breakfast was fantastic, and there are lots of places to eat within a mile of the parking lot. For sleek modern style, you could pay twice as much. We really appreciated the value, clear pricing, and character here.

The staff I met were friendly and knew their stuff, and the hotel is near restaurants and a store. We plan to stay again on our next Bloomington trip. Our room was spotless, even under the UV light I bring to check for bugs and similar things. The bed was very soft, and the pillows felt like fluffy clouds. A couple of repairs were needed, though they only affected how the room looked and not my stay. The TV was the main annoyance: changing channels meant restarting it, so that cost the room a star.

The location made getting around easy, with shops and restaurants nearby and the main road right there. Parking was excellent, though larger vehicles might find the entrance a little tight; there was lots of open space in back. My room was small but very clean, quiet most of the time, and had a great tub for a relaxing soak. A loud neighbor slammed a door a couple of times. I do wish the windows opened, since the room felt stuffy even with the AC on, but that wouldn't stop me returning. Breakfast was a highlight: fresh eggs that tasted real, fruit, meat, yogurt, and plenty of cereal and baked options I didn't try. The breakfast lady was polite, and all the staff did a great job. I stayed three days last summer and was very happy with the experience. I'll come back when I'm in the area.

For a work trip, this was an easy, comfortable place to settle in, with reasonable rates and a cute, clean room that was heated just right. Jerry at the front desk and Jamie at the Lido were both great. They also have the amenities and conference space for bigger events.

We couldn't get a good night's sleep here. Noise carried through the hotel, with people running in the halls and doors slamming loudly. The breakfast wasn't nice, though the room decor was pleasant. The hotel needs to keep up with repairs and upkeep, and I wouldn't recommend it if you want a quiet night. Our room had several problems during a busy weekend with a couple of events. The bathroom light flickered like a strobe, there weren't enough towels and staff resisted bringing more, and the AC roared like a jet. We were told no other room was available because the hotel was full, but someone would fix the light, bring towels, and check the AC. None of that happened. We said we'd be out for about five hours the next day, but came back to a room that hadn't been touched. Our friends joined us for the second night and had a terrible check-in. The lobby was too loud for us to play cards, so we found a table for four in the bar instead. The bartender would disappear for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, leaving it unattended. Around 8 that night I asked again about the light. A rude desk worker said we could switch rooms, even though earlier we'd been told that wasn't possible. A man beside her was apparently the electrician, but he hadn't even seen our room, so I don't know how he knew whether he could fix it. What used to be a beautiful hotel has ended up like this, and I was very disappointed.
