The place was clean, bug-free, and had no bad smells. It sits right in the middle of everything, but still has a country feel. We walked to shops and food, and down to Chetola to see the lights. The kids and I even roasted marshmallows at one of the fire pits. It felt like glamping downtown, and the people working there were friendly and very helpful. The walls are paper thin, and the beds hurt my old back. Still, the rest of the stay was wonderful.

The grounds are gorgeous, with lovely landscaping, and the owners are nice. It’s also a quick walk into town, as other reviews say. But our room was a real disappointment when we arrived. The light brown carpet was filthy, and the bath towels were very straggly. The website photos make the rooms look much better than what we found. It seemed like more care went into the outside than the rooms. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you expect clean, nice amenities.

My younger sister and I came to one of our favorite places, Blowing Rock, and chose this motel for last Sunday night, 10/5/25, because of her previous stay. We had a pleasant evening and tried to use the propane fire pit, but after several video attempts and asking staff for help, it still wouldn’t work. That was our first disappointment. Dinner at Moon Thai restaurant in Blowing Rock was lovely, with outstanding service and great food. Afterward, back at azealia motel, I slept in the recliner with the ottoman under my feet while my sister used the bed. We both woke up the next day with severe back and neck pain. My sister wanted to check out and told them the facility wasn’t acceptable and didn’t meet what she’d come to expect from her earlier stays. Those are the reasons for my two-star rating.

Vonda, the general manager, was so kind and helped make our day a success. My friend had planned to propose to his girlfriend at Grandfather Mountian, but the weather forced us to come up with a Plan B. I noticed the beautiful garden and went into the office to explain. Vonda enthusiastically helped and suggested a second spot, which we ended up using because it was easier to come up with an excuse to go there. Thanks to her, we had two backup plans.

We keep finding reasons to come back. It’s a quaint, welcoming place, with lovely flowers and a charming covered porch, or extra-large gazebo kind of area, for sitting and visiting. It’s not the Ritz, but go there if that’s what you’re after. 😉
