Bluff is tiny and pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so it’s not really a vacation destination on its own. But there are local petroglyphs and a historic fort, and Monument Valley and Maki Dugway, a dangerous but incredible switchback road, are about 30 minutes away. If you’re heading to or from those places, this is an affordable place to stop for the night. We stayed one night while passing through from Monument Valley. The room was clean, the price was fair, and the art on the walls was cool. We left a sentimental Yeti water bottle behind, and they got in touch quickly. We were already hours away, but they kindly offered to mail it to us. Great communication and really nice people.

The new owners clearly care about the place, and the atmosphere was lovely. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and had an excellent bed. Everyone we met was genuinely kind and helpful. We had a great stay at Mokee Motel.

The check-in is keyless, so be sure to look for the payment and entry instructions in your email after booking. I misunderstood them and arrived after 11 pm, but management was gracious and helped me get in. The rooms are private, and the shared kitchen is simply open for everyone to use, so that shouldn’t put you off. My room was clean and the shower was amazing. I don’t know why this place isn’t rated five stars. I’d recommend it to anyone passing through or staying nearby.
