Hampton Inn & Suites Blythe

This is still my go-to when I drive from California toward Phoenix, and yes, I'd stay again. The location is quiet and secluded, with absolutely nothing within walking distance. Rooms are clean, the TV is big and swivels, the bed is comfortable, and the outdoor pool is unheated. The hot tub is warm at 101°. A few details to know: the windows are sealed, so there's no fresh air, but the bathroom fan has its own switch. All the pillows are soft, with no firm ones. The small fridge has shelves but no freezer. The showerhead and water pressure are good. There is one outlet in the desk lamp, plus two bedside outlets and two USB ports. Coffee by the front desk was cold, and the waffles stuck to the waffle maker. Recommend it, just read the details first.

We got some much-needed rest during our night here. The hotel was comfortable, and our two-queen room, 323, was spacious. It's just off the freeway and right by the Arizona border. I think there's a gas station on the other side of the freeway, but otherwise it's mostly open land, so you'll need to drive to the next exit for food or shopping. The main issue was the bathroom barn door. It only hangs from a top rail, so the bottom swung outward as I closed it. There's a 2-3 inch gap by the rail, and even when shut there's a thin gap, so someone could clearly see you from the other side. There really isn't any privacy. I'd put the old doors back. It might be fine with a spouse, but I wouldn't want bathroom odors drifting into the room. The bathroom does have a vent, which is good. The hotel provides shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and two small bars of soap for the sink and shower. If you're traveling with friends, you may want separate rooms or to use the bathroom on the main floor. Breakfast is hot and includes waffles, bagels, pastries, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, broiled eggs, sausage, and egg omelets. I would have liked a ham-free omelet option, since I don't eat ham or meat.

Easy to get on and off the interstate, and far enough away that we didn't hear the freeway. Check-in was quick and simple, and getting to the room was easy. It's exactly what you want for a convenient overnight stop when traveling between California and Phoenix.

We paid full price for six nights, from 1/20/26 to 1/26/26, and had to take cold showers nearly every day. The whole hotel had insufficient hot water the entire stay. I reported it the first morning and was told maintenance would inspect and diagnose it the next day. That evening, the water was still only warm briefly before turning cold. When I called again, I was told it was a "known" issue and they have a "problem " supplying enough hot water when the hotel is full. Another customer told me the next morning that he'd been told this had been going on for at least six weeks. I told the female desk clerk it was unacceptable and that I'd complain to Corporate. She hung up on me. Great customer service. I think they're lying and the water heating system is simply inadequate. They use "boilers" instead of on-demand heaters, and should switch to those. Instead, they chose to save money at their customers' expense. I'm shocked by how badly this hotel is managed and maintained. I'll never stay here again, or at any Hilton-affiliated chain hotel, and neither should you.
