Sands Hotel

The front desk guy was very helpful, but the online pictures are misleading and the location feels suspect. Booking is all online, and when you cancel, they play phone tag with you. They also use the no-show claim to avoid refunding your money. Definitely wouldn't recommend it.

They advertise cheap rooms, then say there's a plumbing issue with the room you booked and offer another for $35 more. That's a terrible bait and switch. The staff were disgusting, and the whole place smelled like nasty curry. An absolutely foul motel.

I paid online and the money came out of my account. The kid at the counter fumbled around looking for our reservation, then eventually put us on the phone with his dad. He said they didn't have our room and wanted another $10 to upgrade us to a king bed. The hotel was only about a third full, but he wouldn't honor the price we'd paid. We left, and I won't go back.

Do not go here. They took my money, said my booking was canceled when it wasn't, and claimed on their end that I never showed up. Corporate confirmed they'd marked me as a no-show. I had to pay another $80 just to sleep there that night. The room was very dirty: my child walked on the floor for 5-10 minutes and her feet were black. We found trash in the room, and there was no fridge or trashcan. Nothing like the pictures.
