Allenberry Resort

The general manager was so willing to help with anything that came up, and Corrie made our last day especially enjoyable. We've stayed at this resort frequently and always find the grounds peaceful and beautiful. The on-site restaurant has a seasonal menu, good food, and has always made for a pleasant time. There's also a cozy breakfast nook with muffins, coffee, and grab-and-go breakfast options, plus an on-site Playhouse.

My wife and I spent an afternoon at Allenberry Spa and loved it. The facility was spotless, the staff were amazing, and the treatments were phenomenal. It's a wonderful place for spa services, and we'd highly recommend it if you're looking to relax.

I've had fine experiences at the restaurant before, so I hate leaving one star, but this dinner was a huge disappointment. My friend and I checked the online menu before meeting and each had a dish in mind. Once we were seated, the actual choices were less than half the online options, and nearly all of them were different. I had planned to get the advertised seared scallops for $35 to take home as a surprise for my husband. Instead, the menu listed smoked scallops for $40. I thought paying $5 more than the advertised seared dish might be worthwhile. The takeout arrived before we left, and it was covered in something that looked like white sauce. My husband said it was terrible, nearly inedible. It turned out to be raw roux, flour and butter, with a few caramelized onions and one quartered, burnt carrot. There were only five scallops, each about the size of a quarter, for $40. He said he wouldn't eat it again even if it were free. I hope the restaurant can turn things around before it's too late.

The historic cottage had everything we needed, with a luxurious, modernized kitchen. We loved having coffee on the front porch in the morning and relaxing there at the end of the day, looking out over the lawn, trees, and creek. We also tried fly fishing in the creek for the first time and had an excellent experience. Justin E, the hotel manager, made our stay and my birthday celebration feel truly special. From the moment we arrived, they were attentive, kind, and thoughtful, and made us feel valued. Their care and pride in the details made the visit unforgettable. We're grateful for everything Justin did, and highly recommend the resort for its comfort, quality, and wonderful people.
