Townsman Motel

There’s hardly anyone staying here, which might feel a little eerie to some, and there isn’t much around the area. Still, it’s a great place with an awesome price, and I’d recommend it. I am curious why there’s a table in the middle of the room, but it was fine with me.

I paid $65 and was grateful for that rate. The managers were very nice and friendly, and I was pleasantly surprised by the clean, well-appointed old-fashioned motor motel, where you can park right outside your room. There were tons of TV stations, with what must have been 10 college football games to choose from.

The people were super friendly, and the place was nice. I usually stay with the Marriott chain, but they had no room in Boise City, so this was a nice change from the standard hotel stay. I liked being able to park right outside my room. I’d planned to camp at Black Mesa, but got into town late, so I stopped here for the night and drove the 30 miles out to see the stars. Beautiful! The room was very clean and comfortable.

Boise City isn’t really a city, and there aren’t any breakfast options in town. That surprised me a little for a county seat, but that’s how it is. The motel has a list of what’s available locally, such as DQ and a gas station or two. It’s an old motel, but I found it clean and quite serviceable, and the service was good. There was a bit of an English barrier over the phone, though things went much better in person. I had a very nice stay. I’d make reservations directly with the motel instead of online.
