Lake Bomoseen Lodge

The staff’s kindness is what made this lodge stand out for me. We booked two semi-lakeview rooms, and at check-in the receptionist said they’d upgraded us to lakeview rooms since those hadn’t been reserved. Later, they moved one room to the first floor because someone in our group didn’t want to use the stairs. When the cold floor bothered her, they kindly switched her back upstairs, even though that meant cleaning the first-floor room again. Housekeeping also brought up a space heater a few minutes later. They seemed more focused on making guests comfortable than on squeezing out every dollar, which felt great. The place itself deserves five stars and then some. It was freshly renovated or well maintained inside and out, with spacious, comfortable rooms and a pretty lake view. The complimentary grab-and-go breakfast was good quality and satisfying. Whenever we were outside, employees were cleaning, shoveling snow, tending the fire pit, or busy with something else. The room heat worked well, too. It was December 31, with temperatures around 20 degrees and a stiff wind coming off the frozen lake, so the first-floor room’s cooler floor made sense in a building without a basement. I highly recommend staying here and hope to return in warmer weather to enjoy the boats and lake.
