This review is about the person who followed me to my car at 8 AM after I checked out and told me I was rude for leaving a one star review, that I was hurting the business, and that I needed to change it. I’d written it at 2:30 that morning after so much noise outside my room kept me from sleeping. I was on a work trip and needed rest before a long day of travel. I’d meant to give four stars for service, location, and rooms, but accidentally left the overall rating at one. I assured her it was a mistake and said I’d fix it. She also said we were in the country and should expect animals to make noise, as if I didn’t know. I live by a lake with raccoons, possums, armadillos, foxes, and all kinds of birds, but I’ve never had that kind of noise at home. I know what country living is like. The property itself was accommodating, and the historic home seems very nice. The young man who greeted me was kind and helpful, and made sure I knew exactly where to park. Thank you for that. But the management, or at least this person, is questionable. In my experience, when I’ve left less than five stars, a manager has reached out to try to make things right. This person accused me of being rude as if I’d done something wrong. Shame on you. I kept my word and changed the rating to four stars, though I didn’t want to. Most people probably won’t read all of this, but my advice is to avoid the cottage if you want a quiet night.

The Four Winds is my first choice for future visits to the area. I have older family nearby, so I’ll be coming to Bonham more often. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe here, and my room was lovely and clean, with thoughtful comforts throughout. The en-suite bathroom was spacious and had a beautiful soaking tub. It’s conveniently within walking distance of the downtown square, the park, and local eateries. I’d highly recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay in Bonham or Fannin County. It’s quite an upgrade from the area hotel chains.

It felt like a cozy home away from home, with plenty of places to sit and relax outside the room. Everything was clean, well stocked, and very well maintained. The rooms are amazing and mostly preserve the historical accuracy of houses from this period. The location is close to restaurants and places to get a drink, too. Jade and Nicole were super friendly and did everything they could to help. When I arrived to check in before spending time with my son, they made conversation and were welcoming. The guest entrance is on the side of the house by the patio. Parking is on the concrete at the front or along the grass, facing the house rather than the barn. You can get in easily from the road, and the place is easy to spot. They have goats and chickens on site and let you explore.

We had the best time at the overnight Murder Mystery dinner. Everyone was given a character and backstory, then we had to talk with the other guests to figure out who did it. Dinner was delicious, a super tender filet with mashed potatoes and a siracha seafood sauce. The owners were so accommodating and made the whole stay enjoyable. We’d definitely do it again.

A lovely Victorian house near downtown and the courthouse, with beautiful wallpaper in the room and a nice balcony. Perfect place to stay when visiting Bonham!
