Holiday Inn Express Kansas City-Bonner Springs by IHG

We’ve stayed here about four times now, and it has become our choice whenever we’re in the state. We used to go to the Fairfield Inn Leavenworth, but after finding this hotel, there’s no comparison. The rooms and bathrooms feel fresh, clean, and comfortable, and the buffet breakfast has lots of choices. The coffee is hot, fresh, and good. Rey, the night manager, is an awesome guy. He’s always accommodating, remembers the little things about us, and makes it clear that he values our business.

At $200 a night, this room wasn’t worth the price. It smelled really bad, and trying a car air freshener while we were out didn’t help, even after six hours. There were stains on the carpet, bed, and walls, the main light was hanging out of the ceiling, and the furniture was pretty damaged. The staff were kind and professional, which is why my criticism is about the room itself. I wouldn’t stay here unless I had to.

The location was decent, with food options nearby, and the man who checked us in was pleasant and gave us useful suggestions for places around the area. The night auditor, though, wasn’t very pleasant and made us feel like we were bothering him. Our room smelled and cost too much. I’ve had better stays and service at other Holiday Inn locations, so I won’t be returning to this one.

The young man who checked us in was friendly and kind, even though he was working a 12-hour shift. The room was clean and the AC worked really well, but the beds were so hard that none of us slept well. Bathroom lighting was too dim to do my makeup or hair, and the whole room felt dark. We could hear Jake brakes and cars all night because I hadn’t realized how close it was to I-70. We could also hear people on the stairs and the upstairs guests stomping around, though that part wasn’t the hotel’s fault. Breakfast was the usual IHG menu. This is hard to say since we’ve never had a bad experience at a Holiday Inn before.
