The room was simple and very clean, with a small but nicely updated bathroom. The shower had a refreshing flow and plenty of hot water, and I slept well in the comfortable bed. The fridge and microwave came in handy. Even with several days of snow and temperatures averaging 5 degrees, the room stayed warm with no drafts. The heater worked well. I could park right outside, and the lot was plowed, so getting food or going to the casino was easy. I was told the hotel has new management and ownership and is finishing major renovations, so a few finishing touches are still underway. The family running it was genuinely welcoming and easy to talk to. It's a charming, simple hotel, and I'll absolutely stay again. I'd recommend it to friends and family.

The room wasn't good. The bathroom had only one towel and two washcloths, all still damp, and nowhere to set anything except the back of the toilet. There wasn't a trash can anywhere. The fridge was brown inside. The bed had a large piece of dirty plastic under the sheet, with one too-small fitted sheet, a very thin blanket, and two completely flat pillows. I do appreciate the woman who found a room for my husband on short notice during an MU game weekend, and for taking the time before she left for St. Louis. I just wish we'd looked somewhere else.

A few days after moving in, I found a baby ringneck snake in the room. I asked the office to remove it because I don't like snakes, but the man there had another guest take it out instead. The walls are paper thin, so I could hear the TV next door and smell smoke through them. I had to keep the AC running constantly, even though it showed a filter-change warning and the filter clearly needed changing. I rented the room for a month while waiting for a house closure, and spent more than an hour on the first day sweeping and wiping everything down with Clorox. The bathroom trash still had rubbish in it, and there were clumps of hair and dirt under the bed and dressers, as well as out in the open. The fridge and entertainment center were grimy and sticky. It was obvious the room hadn't been cleaned before I arrived. I got one towel with two huge holes, two very flat pillows, and a thin blanket. Without it, the sheets underneath were visibly dirty. After my shower, dirty brown water was left standing in the tub. I felt like I was back in basic training, showering in sandals to avoid foot fungus. At the office, the woman gave me CLR and a plunger in case it happened again. There was also a strong poop smell after running hot water for a while. It was an awful experience, and now I understand why the office has signs saying there are no refunds.

We were stranded during a bicycle trip with no vehicle or place to stay after our rooms were cancelled on May 25th without any notice. We had reservations and confirmation numbers, and had called two weeks beforehand to confirm. When we asked what happened, we were treated rudely and the person hung up on us twice. They had overbooked.

I wouldn't rent a room at homestead or roses lodging, even if Rose Lodge up the street looks nice. The management isn't worth your time or money. Michelle, who runs it, was argumentative and rude when speaking with people, and her manner was far from professional. She seems unable to manage the hotel properly, and at times appeared to me to be under the influence of something. I found her manipulative and not a good businesswoman. This was one of the worst places I've ever slept in.
