Boron Motel

We found this motel on the drive back to Vegas and ended up really enjoying our stay. The staff were friendly and knew a lot about the area's history as an old mining town. Our room had everything we needed: a big, comfortable bed, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, TV, hair dryer, and air conditioning that worked well. I'd happily recommend the place.

I was really upset to hear how my 19-year-old son was treated. He and a friend had driven seven hours from Arizona to Boron CA to see a friend, and I'd reserved them a room. They arrived at 9 p.m., tired from the drive, but the woman at the desk refused to let them check in and sent them away. Boron is tiny, with only two motels, so they had to find a room in another town miles away. I'd give zero stars if I could.

The room was clean, about as clean as you can expect with carpet, linens, and towels that are so old. The service was friendly, and the non-smoking room really was smoke-free. They had coffee, a microwave, fridge, and soaps, and the decor was nicely presented. The bathroom was a major letdown, though, and they need a better handyman. Those are the things reflected in my three stars.

A decent spot to get some sleep. Clean, no bugs, comfortable bed, and AC. You're in the middle of nowhere in the desert, but at least it's better than sleeping in your car. The staff are easy to understand, and it doesn't smell like curry. Stay here.
