A charming old brownstone in a great area, with apartment-style rooms that cost a fraction of nearby hotels. It was quiet enough that I didn’t see another guest while I was there, even though all the rooms were booked. The surrounding neighborhood felt beautiful and safe, with lots of greenery, small shops, cafes, and restaurants. The river and MIT campus are a short stroll away, which is handy if that’s why you’re visiting. There’s no free breakfast, but the room has a little kitchen with a stove, microwave, sink, minifridge, tea kettle, coffee pot, cookware, dishes, and utensils. There’s also a bathroom and the usual things like cable TV and free Wi-Fi. The building itself has real charm, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Highly recommend. This will be the first place in Boston I suggest from now on.
The Guest House is conveniently central to just about everything. Before we arrived, we got emails following up on our booking and explaining how to get there. Our room was on the third floor, though, and there’s no lift. Good cardio, at least.
We arrived late, one or two days before New Year’s, and initially went the wrong way on MA Avenue. Once we got our bearings, the location turned out to be great. For the price, having a little kitchenette, a private bathroom, and a bit of a view made it well worth it. I’d definitely stay here in winter.
It was hard to get in touch with them after office hours, and we had some trouble finding the place. Keep in mind they don’t provide parking, though there’s a nearby garage that’s a little expensive but reasonably priced. I really liked staying here: the room was clean and cozy, and close to everything. I’d definitely come back when I visit Boston again.
A pleasant spot for a couple of nights, with lots to do within walking distance. I really liked the location. Definitely a good place to stay.
