Fairmont Copley Plaza, Boston

The bar downstairs feels warm and inviting, with a small menu and a big cocktail list. The hotel is super dog friendly, so bring Fido. It’s an old but elegant place in the heart of Boston, rich in history and hospitality, though the rooms are worn out and definitely need upgrading and some love.

The lobby and main floor are the real highlights, with lovely Art Deco touches and architectural details, and the location makes getting to sights, transit, and restaurants easy. My room didn't live up to that impression. The bedding was surprisingly poor: scratchy, irritating flat sheets that fit badly, and a comforter so thin it was barely there. It made sleeping and even moving around in bed uncomfortable. The bathroom looked nicely updated, but the toilet kept running and gurgling throughout the day and night. The restaurant food was tasty, though very expensive for what it was. Bartenders were friendly and accommodating, unlike the wait staff, who seemed rude and pushy about where we could sit and how long we could stay. Room service was also costly, with several delivery fees and no option to pick up the order. I don't know that I'd choose to stay here again.

Kevin Oliver and Gideon, the club concierges, were polite and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. We spent four nights over Valentine's weekend on the club floor and made good use of the lounge for breakfast and evening canapés. The hotel feels grand and is well located, and our room was well appointed. The gym was well equipped. It had one Concept2 rowing machine that could use servicing, but it did the job. Recommended in Boston. Thank you.

As a wedding photographer, I loved working at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. The staff were organized and accommodating, and the setting works beautifully for a city wedding. The Foyer has big windows, elegant finishes, and detailed moldings that give photos a romantic, luxurious feel. For outdoor portraits, the Boston Public Library is an easy walk away, and we got lovely shots on the walk back to the Plaza, too. A top venue for weddings, hands down.
