The hotel’s location made getting around easy. The Aquarium subway stop is right outside, Quincy Market is nearby, and there are lots of excellent restaurants and coffee shops within a short walk. The historic sites are only minutes away. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and we liked that room service was by request, so we didn’t have to fuss with a Do Not Disturb sign. Our room was quiet with a great view, and the beds were comfortable. The towels were large, soft, and thick. Heating and cooling worked fine, even if the controls weren’t sophisticated. With the cold weather, the automatic lobby doors were a nice touch. We had a handful of small things we’d change. The shower temperature was unreliable at night and in the morning, with surprise blasts of cold water. The adjacent restaurant Joia had a 20% discount that suddenly became 18%, with a mysterious 2% administrative fee added back to the bill. The curtains needed to be a little wider, since we couldn’t close the gap between the panels and morning sun woke us too early. A card would be easier than a key when carrying things. Our room had a DVD player and we found DVDs in the extensive but unsorted library, only to discover the player wasn’t connected to the TV. A smart TV would be nice for picking up Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, or HBO shows. The lobby water dispenser was a nice feature, but lemon bits kept it from flowing quickly and it needed cleaning. These are suggestions, not major complaints. We’d definitely stay here again.

The location made for a great getaway, and the hotel had discounted parking at an off-site lot, a huge plus for this part of Boston. The rooms had charming brick interiors and the bathrooms had modern walk-in showers. Staff were very friendly. The only downside was that there wasn’t a microwave in the room. Otherwise, a really nice place.

Harborside Inn was a solid choice for our Boston trip, and we’d definitely return and recommend it. The location was perfect, the staff were friendly, and the room was quiet, comfortable, and spacious enough for a city stay. The furniture and appliances made the hotel feel a little older, and our room didn’t get much natural light. Those were minor drawbacks compared with the rest of the experience.

The hotel itself is lovely and the location is handy, but the night was miserable. Pounding techno from the restaurant Joia was so loud that we could feel it vibrating through our room. We called the front desk again and again because we had an early flight, and they kept acting as if they didn’t know where it was coming from. You could tell as soon as you walked into the lobby. We barely slept, and it was even more frustrating to be treated like we were imagining the noise. I don’t understand having a club-style restaurant in a hotel where guests are trying to rest. Very disappointing. I wouldn’t come back or recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet stay.

The location was the one thing I liked about the Harborside Inn. The room was gloomy, with a tiny window facing a brick wall that was described as an “atrium view.” It looked decades out of date, and the smell of bug spray was noticeable both there and in the small, dark, unwelcoming lobby. I didn’t even spot the front desk when we entered. The bathroom was decent, but room cleaning wasn’t daily, and you had to schedule it. For four nights we paid over $1,600, so I expected a much better room. We also stopped at the restaurant after checking in for a drink and a small appetizer. Two drinks each and one shared appetizer came to $112 including tip. My room key was plainly on the bar, but nobody offered a discount and I didn’t get one. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.
