Hotel AKA Back Bay

Ryan made checkout easy, checking that we had what we needed while we waited for our Uber to the airport. We stayed three nights at Hotel AKA Back Bay with my mom and aunt, and really appreciated the attentive service throughout. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, the building is stunning, and everything was clean with excellent service. We also ordered room service, and the food was amazing. The location is hard to beat, and we’d stay here again.

Chris, the doorman, was a standout, so friendly and willing to spend extra time showing us around and answering questions. Everyone at the front desk greeted us with a smile, too. The restaurant was great, with lots of tasty gluten-free options. The hotel’s central location made it easy to walk to Fenway, the North End, and Chinatown. Newbury St. is only a few blocks away, with plenty of shops and food. My husband and I had a wonderful stay, and you won’t regret staying here.

The lounge with its fireplace was a cozy place to spend a few hours between checkout and our flight. Chris, the Bellman, was especially friendly. He offered to hold our bags so we could get lunch, then checked on us when we came back to the lounge to see if we needed anything. We were in Boston for a long weekend during the frigid February 2026 weather, and the AKA staff took great care of us. Our room was pleasant, modern, and had all the amenities. What a lovely little hotel. We’ll definitely return! ♥️

A good location is about the only thing this hotel has going for it. Our anniversary getaway was a letdown, and after this we won’t use AKA again, even though we’d had two great trips at the Commons Boston location. We booked a premium king corner room, which was clearly advertised with a four-piece bathroom, but got an unrenovated room with a tub and shower combo that wasn’t a corner room. We went back to the desk with photos of the room we’d paid for and our confirmation number. The staff member apologized and said that room was already booked for the night. I’ve never run into this at any hotel. It felt deceptive and unprofessional. We got no real offer beyond an apology, which was shocking for a place that calls itself “luxury.” We tried to put that behind us, but at 11pm we discovered the AC wasn’t working and slept terribly. It was too late to ask to move for a third time that night. The experience put a real damper on what was supposed to be a special occasion.
