Being right beside Boston Common and offering a good price are the main positives. But the hotel was run down and dirty, the shower water wouldn’t heat properly, and the Wi-Fi was awful. There’s no staff onsite to raise problems with, and getting in requires several door codes. Some of the codes they gave me were wrong. I probably wouldn’t book again.

The bed was comfortable, and despite the building’s shortcomings, things worked reasonably well. The location is excellent, and the price is much lower than comparable places given that location. The elevator and furnishings feel rickety and cheaply made. There’s an unpleasant smell in both the building and room, and the windows are a bit broken, so you hear all the street noise. It feels like quality was cut at every turn.

With Boston lodging so expensive, Temple Place is a reasonable option. It was clean and convenient for getting around by any kind of transit. Mornings were quiet, though it’s in the city, so weekends bring nightlife noise. Check-in is at 4, with no earlier check-in, so plan for that. Great place to stay 💯

The location is good, but the drawbacks were so bad I wouldn’t stay here again even for free. Guys, spend a little more for your lady. The heat runs constantly and can’t be turned off. The portable room AC blows its exhaust back into the room instead of out a window, so it adds more heat than it removes. Shared bathrooms might be okay until you shower and find pubic hair all over the wall. There also wasn’t any staff around when the keypad lock battery died. We had to wait hours to get into the building after a night out.

We booked two nights in room 402 at temple place suites, and this was the worst place we’ve ever stayed, despite having visited all 50 states. I’m 83, and the elevator was out, so imagine hauling suitcases up four flights of stairs. There wasn’t any coffee for the pot. The room was tiny, with no space for a bedside table, and the bedroom lamp switch was broken. The shower dripped constantly, and when we tried to use it, only very hot water came out, so we had to take sponge baths. Since it’s self check-in with no employees onsite, there was nobody to talk to about these problems. The homeless people lying on the sidewalks weren’t the hotel’s fault, but the street noise was very loud. The one good thing was the location, half a block from Boston Commons and the Hop on hop off stop.
