Microtel Inn by Wyndham Bowling Green

The room, sheets, and bathroom were clean, and both male clerks we met at check-in and checkout were kind and polite. There were some signs of age, like a repaired bathroom wall and old water stains on the ceiling, but it was still clean. The small pool area worked well for our little kids, and it looks like they're updating things such as the pool room. We stopped for one night on a long drive home through several states. On the way out, we had stayed at a Drury Inn in Missouri for about $30 more, and it wasn't as clean as this place. For the price and cleanliness, we'd stay again.

We'd stayed here before and been happy, but this time was different. The hot tub wasn't hot, the parking lot hadn't been plowed, and we struggled to get into our space. The carpet in our room was wet, probably from the weekend storm, though they didn't seem to know until after our things were inside. They gave me some rag towels to put on the floor.

We had to stay here because we needed a pet-friendly place. They took a security deposit for our toy poodle, who didn't make a sound, and later called to say they were holding it because of something on the sheets. My husband has double pneumonia, and our heat had gone out, which is why we were there. The sheets were only a little soiled because of his illness, and they'd have to be washed anyway. Apparently bleaching them costs $100. I worked for them years ago and saw how people were treated then. Management has no heart for people, it's all about money. I wouldn't recommend staying here, especially if you're local and down on your luck.

The hot tub and pool area were nice, and housekeeping was very quiet in the morning. There's no elevator, though, and the ceiling is thin enough that I could hear kids running upstairs on the second floor.
