I’ve traveled all over the US and often spend 14 days at hotels in this chain. The Red Roof Inn in Buffalo, NY was the worst one I’ve experienced by far. I asked several times for housekeeping, but the room was never cleaned. They also didn’t change the sheets or towels, replace the soap, or deal with the bad smell that was there from day one, despite my complaints. Staff ignored my requests and nothing was done about my concerns. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I never usually post a negative review, but this place was bad enough that I feel I should warn people. My room was dirty when I arrived, with flies and small bees even though it was October-November. Housekeeping didn’t come once in 10 days, despite requests, so I had to buy toilet paper and wash the towels myself. The bed was uncomfortable and lumpy, there was no dresser, the kitchen sink barely ran, and the toilet kept running. The smoke alarm had been torn off the wall. It was also very loud late at night. Staff reportedly could charge for some TV channels, including ABC and CBS, but couldn’t process the payment. I’d avoid it.

Our room had everything we needed, including a full-size fridge, microwave, and stove, and it was clean with comfortable beds. A few repairs would help. The people working at both check-in and checkout were friendly, informative, and made us feel at ease. Thanks for the hospitality.

The stove barely worked, and the noise from doors slamming went on all night. Every time we stepped outside, a pit bull nearby tried to attack us. This was easily the worst hotel we’ve stayed in. We checked out three days early, but only got our $100 deposit back. We still have the receipt and believe we’re owed more than $300. Each time we call, we’re told to call back and given a different excuse. They won’t refund the rest or explain why we only received the deposit.
