Tradewinds Beach Resort

I was very disappointed by the room’s cleanliness. There was hair stuck to the shower wall when I arrived, which made the place feel unsanitary and poorly maintained. When I raised it, the front desk staff were dismissive and unprofessional. I expected better housekeeping and hospitality for the price. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless management improves both.

The bayfront pool is the standout for me. You can look out over the water while swimming, and there’s a large fishing pier where it’s lovely to sit in the morning and watch the sunrise and fish jumping. The grounds are gorgeous and have a home-away-from-home feeling, with plenty of parking and enough space that the property doesn’t feel crowded. Tradewinds Beach Resort has two cottage styles, both in a Key West look. One has a little less space and costs slightly less; the other is a bit larger and only a little more expensive. There’s also one two-bedroom unit. They offer summer specials, too. I’d give it 10 out of 10. First-time guests often book again, and some have returned for as long as 25 years. Tradewinds won’t disappoint!

The staff at Tradewinds and Torgua were so kind and helpful. I called again and again with questions, and the ladies were always happy to answer, even telling me the bedding brand. The location was perfect for our big family, with everyone getting a private “New House,” as the grandbabies called each place. We had part of the resort almost to ourselves for the first four or five days, so all the kids could run back and forth between rooms. The heated pool meant we could swim even when it got chilly for a few days, and the beautiful beach was only a few steps away. We could also walk to some excellent BBQ and Mexican food. I can’t say enough good things about the friendly staff and the atmosphere. Thank you for a wonderful Christmas memory.

Our stay in unit 7 was terrible. We rented a year ahead and were told the hurricane repairs would be finished and the ground-floor units would be like new. Instead, both neighboring units were still under construction and not even half complete. Ours was the first unit occupied since repairs began 18 months earlier. For the first three days we dealt with problems including no hot water, no air conditioning, no cable, and a very dirty room on arrival. We contacted Anna Maria Island Resorts several times in the month before the trip and asked for unit 5 or 6. They confirmed that request was in their notes but wouldn’t say which unit we’d get. They didn’t tell us those units were still under construction, so there was no chance we’d be placed in either one. They also didn’t mention that construction noise would be on both sides of us throughout our three-week stay. When we asked for a lower rate, they said the construction wouldn’t count toward a discount. Be very careful dealing with them, because their messages before arrival were deceptive.
