Trucountry Inn

We were already staying at the hotel when the owner kindly suggested we try his other bar because the one inside was closed. That bar had served us earlier in the day, but later the bartender there wouldn't serve us. We showed our licenses, including mine from out of state because I'm in the military. She spoke with people at a table, came back saying she wasn't comfortable serving us, rejected all three of our CACs, and told us to leave. Then we watched her run to the other bar to tell them not to serve us either. We just wanted a beer and a game of pool. The funny part is that they'd already served us there earlier. Train your bartenders to recognize a real license and read a CAC.

I stayed in the Bonnie & Clyde room, which looks out over the courthouse. The irony wasn't lost on me; they must have had a laugh about that. This is a great historic hotel just off the courthouse square, in a rare small Texas town where the old downtown isn't all boarded up. The owner and employees are great and very friendly. I had a couple of beers at the bar while a band warmed up in the ballroom. A great experience. Stay here and support a local business.

The rooms feel authentic, the interior decor is awesome, and the bar is great. Good food, friendly people, and welcoming town folk made the whole place really cool. I loved it, and everyone should stay here at least once.

Helpful, pleasant owners and staff, and a welcoming atmosphere. It feels like stepping back in time and getting a sense of how far and wide corporate America has come. A unique place worth experiencing when you're in town or passing through Brady, Texas.
