A decent place to get out of the freezing cold. My room was clean enough, though not spotless like a hospital. The furniture was comfortable, and the beds had nice thick mattresses. The shower was clean, but the water pressure could be better. The atmosphere felt pleasant, with no unsavory people hanging around. Enjoy.

The water got properly hot and the pressure was strong, and getting around the local area was easy. The motel has a kind of bates motel feel that I actually like. Our room did have a strange stale smell, though, and we spotted a big bug that looked like a centipede. I know it’s surrounded by woods, but it still gave me the creeps. Pretty good place otherwise. I’d go again, maybe a 6/10.

I left as soon as I saw more huge bugs in the shower. There were already some behind the curtain, and when I moved the shower head, a few more appeared. The water was cold, and there was only one towel. The room looked ancient and barely furnished, and I couldn’t bring myself to check the bedding because the sheets looked old and unclean. The whole place smelled awful and clearly hasn’t been kept up. We only stayed because every other hotel nearby was booked. At the desk, the host offered another room, but I was too grossed out to accept and left with my things. She said I could come back for my refund, but when I called the next morning, she said she could only give me $20 because she’d offered another room. She had promised a full refund. This is a beat-up, run-down motel, not worth $100 for the night.

The owner was friendly, and I liked the room colors and the comfortable beds. The room was nicely done and clean, with a good table and bathroom. I live in Germany and have a soft spot for old-fashioned motels. Sunset motel has that nostalgic, movie-like feel, from its 1970s build to its spot beside the highway. Looking out the window, I could picture an old white Buick or Chevrolet driving by. It’s near a small city and two shopping malls. I did wish there were coffee, but there’s no guest room for that and no breakfast. Still, no big deal. I’d stay there again someday. Kala g. from Germany

I’m staying here as a shelter guest through Somerset County, and I’m grateful to have a dry roof and a shower. It’s clean, and much better than sleeping in a park. The problem is Somerset County won’t shelter anyone once the temperature reaches a certain point, around 40 degrees.
