Rodeway Inn Brandon - Jackson East

We were charged for the room after being told it would be canceled. When we contacted the hotel about the charge, they ignored us. We then reached out to Choice Hotels, and apparently a manager told them we had stayed there and had no issues. They took our money and then lied about it. Terrible experience.

We couldn’t stay the second night because the rooms were so nasty, and they wouldn’t refund that night’s payment. We’d booked two rooms for two nights, but our reservation was given away and there was no pool. The shower leaked onto the floor, the toilet tank was broken, and I had to clean the shower before using it. There was a mattress in the hallway, and the mini fridge had warm food inside that smelled awful. Worst motel ever.

The air conditioner worked great, and the price is lower than the surrounding motels. Still, you get what you pay for, and I can’t imagine why anyone would choose to stay here otherwise. There’s no elevator or pool, the parking lot needs repairs, and the drink machine was empty. No breakfast either. There’s only one local TV channel, no remote, and the beds are very uncomfortable. The towels are paper-thin and rough. The day receptionist was rude, and the dumpster by the front entrance stinks. It seems mainly like a man camp for transient workers. I’ll do what I can to warn people about this place.

When we arrived, the staff were fine. But when my mama asked for a downstairs room, the response came with an attitude. Our refrigerator didn’t work, the door mechanism could get stuck open, and the tub only had extremely hot water. I also asked for a late checkout, including as a member, and was told they don’t do that. Someone had cleared out the continental breakfast and it hadn’t been replenished. I nearly forgot, there were both live and dead bugs in the hallway by the rooms.
